Hi all, if you want to dive deeper into the world of Java then I definitely recommend reading these three books.
The first, Head First Java by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates is a great introduction to the language and is filled with hundreds of cheesy jokes that keeps the reading light.
When you want to get serious move the the Certified Programmer Study Guide, this is a revision guide for the Sun certification exam and so is quite a bit more technical than Head First Java. It does however include lots of clear examples and plenty of quick tests to really test you on what your learning.
Lastly there is the Clean Code Handbook which won’t teach you Java, but will show you how to write code that is neat and readable and is a must read for every programmer. Luckily the examples are given in a very Java like language so are very easy to follow.
If you guys think I’ve missed something or have read a good book that you feel deserves a recommendation then please post it on the Forum.
