Apple start foundation plans for Jedi Council

Apple have patented an “Interactive Three-Dimensional Display System similar to that used in Star Wars by the Jedi Council that uses a familiar mirror box-type design, but that works with digital images instead of physical objects like those you might find in novelty stores, and that also incorporates 3D gesture-based input from a user for control.

Several Universities have already released working examples of the technology. Cambridge have created a small interactive hologram of a digital image which, although blurry and very small is very close those images conjured by those Jedi Scientist.

Bristol have also created similar technology, only they use smoke machines and projectors to create their image. Theirs is very future tech though as you can easily transfer the image around onto a table or throw it across the desk to another person. It comes across as very future tech and really represents how immersive the future is going to be.

I will not be fooled however as I recall that Darth Sidious also used this technology. Lets hope that the force guides apple away from the dark side!
